Celebrating Purim 2023

Our Jewish-focused preschool art classes offer many different themes and elements that are incorporated into the art activities that allow children to learn about Jewish culture, traditions, and history. Past example themes have included, Jewish holidays, Jewish symbols, Bible stories, Hebrew letters, and Jewish artists.

  1. Jewish Holidays Celebration: Children celebrate the Jewish holidays through playful activities, exercises, exploration with materials, mediums, and colors through provocation. They create and learn customs and traditions, strengthening their understanding in fun ways. Holidays such as Passover, Hanukkah, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Shabbat are celebrated through a unique art program and educational experience. The art classes offer participants endless possibilities to create with freedom and enjoyment, where children are encouraged to express themselves and explore their ideas, stimulated by their sense of wonder and play. Past art classes have included: Creation of menorahs using clay, design of Seder plates, and shofars out of paper mache...

  2. Jewish Symbols: Teaches children about Jewish symbols such as the Star of David, the hamsa hand, and the mezuzah. These classes encourage children create art that incorporates Jewish symbols, such as a collage of Jewish symbols or creating a mosaic using colored paper or beads.

  3. Hebrew Letters: Teaches children the Hebrew alphabet and encourages them to create Hebrew letters using clay. Past classes have included creating their names using Hebrew letters, or a few simple letters depending on children’s ages.

  4. Jewish Art History: Teaches children about famous Jewish artists such as Marc Chagall and encourages the children to create art inspired by their work.

  5. Tikkun Olam: Teaches children about the Jewish value of tikkun olam (repairing the world) and encourages them to create art that reflects this value. For example, they can create artwork that promotes environmental conservation, or they can make cards to send to people who are sick or lonely.

Overall, our Jewish-themed preschool art classes aim to teach children about Jewish culture, values, and traditions, while providing a fun and engaging learning experience through art.
